Core Governance

About Core Governance

A South African governance firm that helps boards work better and makes good governance practical for organisations of every size.

Lougan Jamane, Project Manager at Core Governance

Lougan Jamane

Project Manager

His career spans governance and academia. He led the Board Evaluations department at the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA) until February 2026, managing more than 150 board evaluations, and has lectured at the University of Johannesburg, where he is also a PhD candidate. He is currently a lecturer and programme coordinator in private higher education. Most importantly, Lougan believes his family is his foundation and compass.

That experience shapes how Core Governance works: governance that is rigorous enough to stand up to scrutiny, and practical enough to use.

Our mission

To strengthen governance structures through insightful evaluations and practical support, so that boards, committees and growing organisations can lead with confidence.

What we stand for

Independence

Honest findings and advice, even when they are uncomfortable.

Substance over form

We look at how governance actually works, not just what the documents say.

Proportion

Governance sized to the organisation, not borrowed from a listed company.

Continuous learning

We bring current developments, from King V to AI governance, into our work.
